Yaozhou kiln was most famous in the celadon kiln in the Northern Song Dynasty. During the 30 years from Shenzong Yuanfeng (1078-1085) to Huizong Chongning (1102-1106), he burned tributary porcelain for the court. Its extraordinary porcelain-making skills and free and lively style had a great impact on the kilns around the time, and was a treasure of traditional Chinese porcelain-making techniques.

耀州窑产品多以民用瓷为主，是宋代北方民间青瓷的主要产区之一，但也以常年例贡的形式烧造黄瓷，供北宋宫廷使用。器型以碗、盘、碟、罐、盒、瓶为主，胎质灰白而薄，釉色匀净，有的青如橄榄，有的稍绿，也有的呈姜黄色，釉面多开小片冰裂纹，边沿部分呈黄褐色。

耀州窑的花纹采用刻、印、划、模印等手法，图案自然流畅。耀州窑瓷器胎较厚，刻花时产生有斜度的刀痕，上过一层薄釉后，凹处积聚的釉较多，凸处的釉则较少，使图案有深浅、浓淡，显得清晰而富立体感，有浅浮雕的效果，珠圆玉润，这是耀州窑的一大特色。其常用图案如波浪纹，缠枝花卉，鱼、鸟等讲究严谨和对称，常常布满全器。耀州窑印花使用一种模子，上面刻有花纹。把模子印在未干的胎上，就产生了花纹图案。北宋晚期，耀州窑瓷器刻花、印花并用而以刻花为主。

耀州窑刻花、印花青瓷器很受欢迎，一时，声誉与越窑青瓷比肩，许多窑场争相仿造，形成了庞大的耀州窑系。

Yaozhou kiln mainly produces civil porcelain, which is one of the main producing areas of the northern folk celadon in the Song Dynasty. But it also burns yellow porcelain in the form of annual tribute for the use of the court in the Northern Song Dynasty. Bowls, plates, dishes, pots, boxes and bottles are the main models. The matrix is gray and thin, and the glaze color is uniform. Some are as green as olives, some are slightly green, and some are ginger yellow. The glaze surface is cracked with small pieces of ice, and the edge part is yellowish brown.

The patterns of Yaozhou kiln are carved, printed, scratched, and moulded, and the patterns are natural and smooth. Yaozhou kiln porcelain tire is thicker, carved with a slant knife mark, after a layer of thin glaze, the concave accumulated more glaze, convex glaze is less, so that the pattern has shallow, thick, clear and rich three-dimensional, shallow relief effect, bead round jade, which is a major feature of Yaozhou kiln. Its common patterns such as wavy patterns, twining flowers, fish, birds, etc. pay attention to rigorous and symmetrical, often full of the whole. Yaozhou kiln printing uses a mold with patterns on it. The pattern is printed on the dry tire and the pattern is produced. In the late Northern Song Dynasty, Yaozhou kiln porcelain was carved and printed with carved flowers.

The carved and printed celadon wares of Yaozhou kiln were very popular, and were popular for a while. The celadon wares of Yaozhou kiln had the same reputation as the celadon wares of Yue kiln. Many kiln yards were competing to imitate each other, forming a huge Yaozhou kiln series.
